Gustav Mahler
Gustav Mahler (1860-1911)
Symphony No. 4
Composed at the dawn of the 20th century, Mahler’s Fourth Symphony stands out for its transparency and luminous character. More concise than the monumental symphonies he would later compose, the work unfolds a refined musical world in which irony, poetry and wonder are subtly intertwined.
This distinctive atmosphere reaches its culmination in the fourth movement, where a vocal line evokes, with innocence and gentleness, a vision of heavenly life.
