In their fourth season, The Ministry combines two gems of English baroque literature into one whole. Expect a baroque party without equal …

The evening starts with Purcell's Dido and Aeneas. In this masterpiece, the hero Aeneas and his beloved Dido – having recently fled Troy – face a killer storm. The aria When I am laid in earth is sure to leave no one in the audience unmoved.

But the 'ministers' don't want to end this unique opera evening on a sour and dour note. That's why they have something else in store after the break. Using the same cast and amidst the ruins of the first decor, they perform Acis and Galatea, one of the most beloved English operas of Handel's time.
