Court of Choice part II: ENTRE-CÔTES

Having received excellent reviews and a Klara Award for PLAY (part I of Court of Choice, triptych of power), Liesa Van der Aa and One Trick Pony now present the second part. PLAY portrayed the representation of power via a tennis game, while in Entre-côtes the power continues its development in the ‘shop of meat’ – the butcher’s: a window filled with shining meat.

Entre-côtes zooms in on the intensity and complexity of human will, capacity, reason, the origin of his desire and urges. All of this is expressed through a specific musical language that One Trick Pony has been developing with bravado for the past few years.

Is the buyer also responsible for the legitimisation and maintenance of the seller's position? Does the buyer challenge that position? Who is the buyer and who is the seller? Who is in control?

These questions are raised during the performance, which feels more like a miniature happening than a traditional theatre performance: a reflection of the capitalist society in the form of a dark, eroticising, amusing painting, a living portrait, a musical experience, that uses both the slaughter and the beauty of shining pink meat to move the audience and bring them to ecstasy.
