BRAHMS & BEETHOVEN
belongs to one of the most demanding in the entire violin repertoire.
Fortunately, Viktoria Mullova is one of the best violinists in the
entire world, so if anyone can do Brahms' work justice, it's her. But
just in case a world-class performance wasn't enough, she is known to
add a healthy dose of of eccentricity to her performances as well.
Le Concert Olympique continues their foray into Beethoven's orchestral works with his Seventh Symphony. In it, Beethoven explored the limits of the classical orchestral language: a monumentous build-up, obsessive rhythms, wild harmonies and a truly brilliant orchestral performance that at times sounds majestic, bombastic, if not downright dramatic.
