This festive programme includes music by Fasch, Bach and Telemann as performed in the early 18th century at the court of Anhalt-Zerbst. Johann Friedrich Fasch could probably rely on exceptional oboists and fagottists, since he composed a remarkable body of music for these instruments!
Fasch is a German Baroque composer who was very well-known and popular in the 18th century, but has fallen into oblivion since then. None other than Johann Sebastian Bach was a great admirer of his music. Just like Bach, Fasch was invited to audition for the position of Thomaskantor
in Leipzig, but he chose to work as Hofkapellmeister at the court of Anhalt-Zerbst. Empress Catherine the Great of Russia grew up in this important principality of the Holy Roman Empire.
Nele Vertommen (Baroque oboe) and Beniamino Paganini (harpsichord) interpret this effervescent programme with their ensemble Musica Gloria, which consists of eight musicians on this occasion.
- Music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Friedrich Fasch and Georg Philipp Telemann
