Gyða Valtýsdóttir

Gyða Valtýsdóttir is an Icelandic musician, multi-instrumentalist and winner of the 2019 Nordic Council Music Prize. A member of the experimental music group Múm, she has released three full-length solo albums, Epicycle, Evolution and Epicycle II, and has created music for films, installations and dance.

With soaring cello and heavenly vocals, Ox - her fourth album - is a transcendent dance between the inner and outer realms of existence. The rich arrangements and complicated soundscapes celebrate the embodiment of both darkness and light through candour that gives rise to writing that bursts with effortless originality.

Dobrawa Czocher (PL)

The solo work of Polish cellist and composer Dobrawa Czocher is situated on the thin dividing line between classical and contemporary music, as she combines her virtuoso technique with a strong emotionality. She's also part of
Project XII at the renowned Deutsche Grammophon label, which selects promising artists and new voices to showcase their work.

In Leuven, she will present her debut album Dreamscapes.

In May 2022, we invited Dobrawa with a trio formation at the second edition of The Sound of Cello, a concert that was highly appreciated by the audience. Insiders might know her from the successful duo with pianist Hania Rani. As a duo, they released Inner Symphonies on the Deutsche Grammofon label and performed at a sold-out Bozar.

Press

"This is an album for a candlelit night at home with a loved one, or for staring out of the window at the rain by yourself. It’ll warm your heart and cleanse your soul. A definite must-have." (The Reykjavik Grapevine on 'Ox')
