NIETES is an apocalyptic youth theatre production about control, anger, letting go and the inability to deal with change. A parade of everything that may not be done and everyone who may not take part. A show for which no-one is invited, which will probably never begin or end.
In NIETES, theatre makers Kim Karssen and Hendrik Kegels unhesitatingly say “NO!” to anything that presents itself. They reverse the laws of theatre, close themselves off from every opportunity and keep everything under lock and key. A performance that puts an end to all things.
The audience? Bah, NO!
Lights? Ugh, NO!
Applause? NOOOOOO!
An unforgettable turnout? Boo, NO thank you!
NIETES is a parade of everything that may not be done and everyone who may not take part. Baby dinosaurs are put back into their eggs, the Romans don’t even have an empire, and Elvis Presley is taken off the tube before he can shake his hips.
Nothing can happen. Everything remains the same forever. Great!
