We know very little about the life and work of the polyphonist Johannes de Lymburgia (c. 1380 - c. 1440). He probably came from Baelen in what was then the duchy of Limburg, but we also find traces of him in Vicenza in northern Italy. He also wrote a brilliant motet for the city of Padua with Gaude Felix Padua.

The Manuscript Q15 in the Museo Internazionale e Biblioteca della Musica in Bologna contains 46 Latin compositions attributed to Lymburgia. This unique codex, in which he is flanked by such great names as Johannes Ciconia and Guillaume Du Fay, is also virtually the only source for his work.

If we assume that some other anonymous compositions in a closely related style are also by de Lymburgia, then with over fifty pieces he deserves to be considered one of the most important composers of religious music in the first half of the fifteenth century.

With this programme, Le Miroir de Musique wants to bring the repertoire of this Franco-Flemish polyphonic composer with roots in the Low Countries, whose music is still too little known, back to the public.
