The 'Concours International de Quatuors à Cordes de Bordeaux' originated in 1999 and has become a leading competition in the world of chamber music and of that of the international competitions. Many string quartets have started their brilliant career at the festival, such as Belcea Quartet (1999), Quatuor Ebène (2003), Quatuor Ardeo (2005), Quatuor Zaïde (2010) and Quatuor Akilone (2016).
