PASSIE VAN DE STEMMEN: THE DEER’S CRY - WILLIAM BYRD / ARVO PÄRT
any modern artist knows how to build and expand upon the
masterful compositions of centuries ago, it's Arvo Pärt. In this
programme, his work is placed next to several remarkable pieces of English polyphonic history – six works of William Byrd's Cantiones
Despite living in completely different eras, Byrd (+1626) and Pärt (°1935) are considered to be some of the most important and inflluential composers of religious music. Both of them also faced persecution because of this. By special request of the festival, The Sixteen will make their debut in Leuven!
This concert is part of the Voices of Passion festival.
