EUROPESE ORGELMUZIEK IN DE HUISKAMER ("EUROPEAN ORGAN MUSIC IN THE LIVING ROOM")
Since 1982, Dutch organist Liuwe Tamminga has worked and lived in Italy. He holds a particularly enviable position: chief organist of the famed Basilica of San Petronio in Bologna. The historical worth of the organs held within is simply immeasurable. Not only does he clearly hold these instruments very dear, his skill at playing them is unsurpassed. In this performance, he manages to include another one of his passions as well: his love for hidden manuscripts.
Specifically for this recital, Liuwe browses throughout European sources, in search of music suited for this type of instrument, to present a musical experience exactly the way it must've sounded back in 1840.
